If you're reading this, thanks for stopping by the #ThumbHub chat room! You've reached the greatest room on the chat network for sharing YOUR artwork! This blog is designed to give you some guidelines for hanging out with us and to tell you how the chat works. Nothing too scary, we promise!

Chat Guidelines

We adhere to DeviantArt's official Channel Rules and Etiquette Policy.

Please note that the guidelines in this document are subject to the interpretation of the chat room Moderators- we ask that you please respect the Moderators and do not argue with them. More on that below!

We want to create a welcoming atmosphere for all deviants where they can get more exposure for their artwork.  Therefore, we ask that that everyone treats each other with kindness and respect. This chat is a drama-free zone! We want everyone to have fun but to just be respectful about it.

That being said, please note that we REALLY, REALLY FROWN UPON "thumbing and running" -- Meaning you join #ThumbHub, share your art, and leave again without any interaction. You'll probably be Muted for doing this so... you know, just come hang out with us and have some fun :D

Art Sharing

This chat room is all about sharing your artwork! Bring your deviations for others to see and prepare yourself to see some amazing art from deviants around the world.

We have a chat bot that will post your artwork for you. That being said, use of the bot is privilege for users who are in the chat to hang out with us. It's generally considered bad form to come in, post artwork, and leave without engaging others in some way.

Deviants are able to post up to five (5) deviation thumbnails on a single line, once every five (5) minutes.  Moderators are able to post up to eight (8) thumbnails at once with no time restriction. If you've manually posted art from yours or someone else's gallery in a chat message, please wait 5 minutes before using the bot or doing so again.

If a Moderator sees artwork being shared that does not follow DA's chat network policies, you may be asked to remove the artwork from your gallery before being allowed to chat in #ThumbHub.  In addition, as the bot and users are capable of sharing art from any user gallery, it is up to the Moderator to determine if art sharing in the chat room is considered trolling or flamebaiting.

:star: Commissions :star:

We do NOT allow individuals to advertise their commissions in #ThumbHub chat! Our bot regularly posts the ThumbHub Art Sales Database in the chat room, which features the commissions and art-for-sale of our chatters! Check out the link for a list of commissions and how to apply to be included in the list.

Other Promotion

You are welcome to advertise your community events (approved items include challenges & contests or forum threads) livestreams, and art-related social media pages in the #ThumbHub chat room. The same 5-minute rule applies to art sharing plus these types of promotion. Only one can be done in a 5 minute period. Other off-site promotion is not allowed. Please seek admin approval before promoting a chat room event, as the mod may have to verify an actual event is taking place (we do not allow random chat room promotion that is non-event related).

Spamming and Flooding

Deviants are limited to three emoticons/emotes at a time. Please do not spam emoticons or flood the chat as it is distracting for others trying to have conversations. Flooding is when someone sends messages in rapid succession.

Please do not stretch your text either as it can expand the chat window and make viewing the chat difficult for other users.

If you're only trying out emote codes to see if they work, we ask that you make use of the :#EmoteTesting: chat room! :D (Big Grin)

Chat Languages

We prefer that everyone chat in English so that our moderators can effectively keep track of the room and so everyone can be involved in the conversation.

However, you may speak any of the following languages as long as the moderator who speaks it is active in #ThumbHub. Please note that if a moderator asks you to, or if a moderator listed below is not active in #ThumbHub, you must speak English. The mods have the full blessing of JenFruzz and deviant-garde to enforce this as they see fit, please respect them:

(please check back occasionally as this list may change from time to time)

On Other Rules

The moderators are there to ensure everything runs smoothly in the chat. If something arises that the moderators feel the need to address--and it's not listed in this journal--please respect their wishes. Deviants are not allowed to put Moderators on ignore and vice versa.

Please note that RPing is not allowed in #ThumbHub - there are a ton of RP rooms on the chat network though... You'll definitely be able to find one that interests you. :) (Smile)

Meet the #ThumbHub Users!

The chat is divided up into privilege classes (you may see people call them "privclasses" around the website). Each privclass has its own purpose. You'll see these groups listed on the User List in the #ThumbHub chat room. Read about each group here!

TheHub

This class is the home of the chat's founders, JenFruzz and deviant-garde. They have all sorts of special powers. :noes: But they're friendly and don't bite, so be sure to say hello!

Moderators

Moderators uphold the #ThumbHub guidelines to ensure that everyone has a fun chatting and art-sharing experience. Please respect the moderators. Moderators have special art sharing privileges to help expose you to even MORE deviations! They can share up to sixteen (16) thumbnails and do not have a time restriction.

Moderators are able to kick (after or as part of a warning) and mute Deviants who do not follow the chat guidelines. This is only done to ensure that the chat runs smoothly. If you feel that you have been kicked or muted unfairly, please contact one of TheHub deviants and we will look into it.

TheHubVIP

If it's your birthday... Let someone from TheHub or Moderators know! You'll be promoted to this privclass for the day with some extra, special benefits :la: You'll be able to post your art on a 1-minute timer and post 7 thumbnails with the bot (with the ability to post up to 10 deviations if you choose!). Be sure to use this power wisely or the privilege may be taken away :nuu:

Deviants

This group is for anyone who wanders into the room. We welcome deviants from all over the website: new members, members who are only new to chatting, or even our experienced community peers!

Those in the Deviants class are able to share up to five (5) thumbnails of their artwork, once every five (5) minutes.

Muted

This is sort of like timeout. Users in this class will be able to see what is going on in the chat, but they won't be able to participate in the discussion. If you are Muted, you will be released after 2 days for the first offense, after 2 weeks for subsequent offenses.

Banned

These users are no longer welcome in #ThumbHub. You could be banned if you're Muted more than twice.

Hopefully this helps introduce you to our chat room! Be sure to check out the official group of the #ThumbHub chat, ThumbHub Clap

If you have suggestions or questions, you are encouraged to send a note to ThumbHub and someone will respond promptly!

What is #ThumbHub?
ThumbHub is the main chat room on DeviantArt for sharing YOUR artwork. The room was founded in July 2015 by JenFruzz and deviant-garde to become a one-stop location for conversation and promotion for deviants around the community to take advantage of. The ThumbHub group is the center of our non-chat activity. Here you will find contests, features of our chatters and their art, among other activities. We invite you to join the chat and group and keep up to date on all our happenings!
