Artists of Bird Photography: @JestePhotographyHello and welcome to an interview series that will introduce the artists of our monthly themed categories at AnimalsPlantsNature group! June is Birds month and so we're exciting to be bringing you an interview with a well-known bird photographer to get a closer look at his artwork and his thoughts behind the pieces he submits to the DeviantArt community... JestePhotography!
Introducing JestePhotography!

Who is JestePhotography? Tell us a bit about yourself!

:iconjestephotography:
Hello! My name is Steve Cossey, I was raised in the Edmonton area of Alberta Canada. I suppose technically I started my adventures as a travel photographer in 1981. A.K.A a boy scout camping with an old Kodak point and click! The one with the removable Magic Cube flash bulbs that gave you 4 flashes? Fast forward more than a few years though.

The APN Guide: Setting Up for Bird PhotographySpring and Summer are the seasons of the year that offer a lot of color for your photography. Flowers and blooming, birds are singing... This is when you need to start paying attention as a bird's song often means the bird is near - hopefully near enough to photograph.
Photographing Animals
Anyone who's ever attempted to photograph animals can tell you, it's not as easy as it may look.
Animals don't actually realize you're trying to take a picture of them. Don't expect them to do what you want them to do. Make use of any opportunity that comes your way - it may be over in the blink of an eye, but you might just catch it if you're paying attention.
When you're dealing with wild animals, please respect their wild nature.
Don't approach them, don't look for physical contact, and don't feed them. Lives could be at stake.
Wild animals might spook easily, running away, or birds taking off in flight. Make sure you find a location where you can sit still with

Your photography is inspiring and beautiful EdgedFeather!
First could you please tell us a bit about yourself?

Bird photography is a niche subcategory of APN that delivers a wide array of avian creatures, either wild or domesticated. This is the category you want to explore if you're looking for photography where the main focus of the piece are birds of any variety! The photographers who post to this gallery face challenges unlike some other categories. From searching out the birds they are looking to photograph, to approaching these animals without disrupting them, the end justifies the means with stunning, photographic artistry!
Here is what you can expect to see from us this month:
